Greetings from Mobile Creches!
As part of our Balwadi teachers training course, we would like to take our group of 10 trainees to visit a maternity home/hospital where they could get a chance to see the sonography equipment, exhibits of the prenatal stages of development of a child etc. The related topic has been completed theoretically, but practical exposure is lacking.
Kindly suggest hospitals tht allow such visits.

We have Three great Projects of Hospital Upgradation I give details of what we, at Rotary, had done last year. We are looking for financial support for the same.

Upgradation of Public Hospitals: 18 such hospitals were identified at the beginning of the year and Rotary clubs were requested to provide better facilities for the patients & their relatives coming there. This was done by improving the OPDs/seating arrangements, lighting, provision of drinking water, better toilets at the cost of appx. Rs. 75 lacs.

In addition, Better equipments, Instruments were provided for various medical & non medical uses in these Hospitals at the appx cost of Rs. 2 Crores in Mumbai & Thane district areas. Latest is imported C-Arm Machine for St. Georges Hospital costing Rs. 21 lacs.

State of the Art - 10 bed Trauma Care Ward at Rajawadi Municipal Hospital, Ghatkopar East was started on June 30, 2004 at the cost of Appx. Rs. 2 Crores. Out of this Rotary has spent Rs. 30 lacs but was mainly instrumental in giving shape to this project which was delayed due to various reasons.

OPD of the Premier J.J. Hospital was Renovated, Computerised and Upgraded along with Senior Citizens Clinic at the cost of Rs. 70 lacs (Rs. 40 Lacs in Cash & Rs. 30 Lacs in kind) during May 2004. This was Inaugurated by H.E. Gov. of Maharashtra, Shri Mohd Fazal in presence of prominent Govt. and Community Leaders recently.

Other hospitals which benefitted due to this program include, Bhabha, Cooper, Bhagwati, Marol Nursing Home, Gynec Municipal Hospital at Mulund, and many other small and big ones. Total amount spent on these projects during the year exceed Rs. 4.5 Crores.

This project has given lot of focus s well as PR to the Rotary Clubs in carrying out needbased project. This project is continued during 2004-05 and also taken up by Innerwheel Dist. 314.

I have a friend who is fully blind in one eye and partially blind in the other, that too is donated - don't know the exact medical term for his condition. Anyways, he was perfectly normal till a few years back. He is an engineer (metallurgy) and is trained in some computer skills. He has worked in web designing for some overseas client.

Will it be possible to get details about employment opportunities for people like him?
Basically, I am not looking for monetary help or potential donors. Just looking for some job opportunities for him.

if you can get me contact info for any NGOs who may be able to help out in this, it would be great.
I can then contact them and see if anything can be done for my friend.

ngo / consultant / person - for village development - needed

Our family has been very involved in our native village in Rajasthan in various social development activities there viz. schools, polytechnic, hospital, medical camps, annual mela, agri-projects, gaushala, kalyanamandapam, temple, housing, etc.

We seek to increase our activities there in these or any other spheres which are suitable and relevant to a village economy. Space, infrastructure, funds, manpower, etc. are available.

We are interested in individuals or organisations who can advise us of suitable projects and can, hopefully, also supervise or implement them. They can be on a project, monthly retainer, part-time or full-time basis. They can be based in Mumbai or at the village. All amenities and facilities are available there.

Examples of projects can include rainwater harvesting, solar energy applications, agricultural development, medical camps, vocational training, sports school, etc.

If you can help or know someone who can help, please email me so that I can put you in contact with the concerned family member.

We train them to work with dry flowers and handmade paper products like greetings cards, gift bags, etc. We don't compromise on quality. We market them even internationally. Beauforts, near Akbarallys at Fountain has offered shop space free of cost to sell items and let proceeds go to animal welfare groups. The shop operates on a thrift shop principle - people donate items which are priced lower than the market rate and the proceeds go to charity.

Here's how you can help:
1. donate or ask people to donate gently used/new items. Anything usable is welcome.
2. help to collect items from people who are unable to deliver.
3. offer to store some items in your home/office.
4. publicise the shop by copying this and sending it to people or printout and put on public bulletin boards.

For details about volunteering or donating things call Lyla at 9821733529 or email her at
DO NOT drop items directly at Beauforts. It's only a point of sale. Thanks
