About us: Kalpana is a project of ACT, a
Charitable Trust which is registered under Public
Trust Act 1950 ( No. F 5727, Bombay 22-9-79).
Kalpana was started in 1998 to
give an opportunity to the women who are marginalised and
live in an absolute hopeless situation.
We use the gift of imagination(Kalpana) to give new
direction to many lives. From despair to dignity.
The products of Kalpana are created with real flowers that
are pressed and dried and crafted by these marginalised
women of the society. We make Handmade paper products
with real flower designs on it.But much more than the
products, the lives of these women are transformed. We
never compromise on quality.
Vision: We want to give self dignity to the
women of Mumbai slums and Empowering them with knowledge,
power, self reliance and prosperity.
Mission: We provide employment
opportunity to unskilled and underpriviledged women to draw
them into mainstream economic activity.
Services: Employment to women from crisis
homes.
Impact: 15 women are given employment
and education to their children.
History: Kalpana is a project of ACT, a

started in 1998 with an aim to empower women of Mumbai slums
with knowledge, self reliance and prosperity.
Projects/Achievements: Currently we have
one centre in Vile Parle west where women creates
designs out of Real flowers on various medium like Handmade
paper products, Bamboo, etc.Our range of products varies
from office accessaries to home utility products.
What is it that you exactly do for a beneficiary?:
We not only give employment to the women and look after
their basic needs and medical expenses but also support
their children's education.
How can you work with others? :
We can supply the office accessaries to Corporates, as we
have whole range of products which any office can use for
their daily work.
We can exchange ideas with other NGOs.
Financials:
Yearly Budget: Rs. 6 lakhs
Revenue Sources: revenue earned from the sale of our
products.
Corporates can adopt us at yearly sponsorship of Rs. 1 lakh
P.A.

One
woman was married with 3 kids,2 girls and one boy.One
day her husband left her for someone else and she
didn't have any source of living. Out of frustration, she
took poison and also gave to her children . But
unfortunately only the boy died and the mother with 2
girls survived. She lived many years with the unspoken guilt
till she came to work with us. Now she is one of our best
creative persons.
