The
Centre for Advancement of Philanthropy (est.1986) is a
resource Centre specializing in areas of not-for-profit
law, taxation, financial management, resource mobilization
and Human Resource Development.
Its
main programs and services include:
i) free
consultancy services to a wide range of non-profit
organizations in areas of registration, tax exemptions,
finance, management, etc.;
ii)
publications which include a bi-monthly journal
called ‘Philanthropy’ and a range of
resource books;
iii)
seminars, workshops and training programs;
iv)
research and dissemination of useful data and
information on philanthropy;
v)
periodic representations to government on behalf of
the philanthropic sector.
In
1991, the Centre, under the late Shri. H.T.Parekh’s
leadership, launched the Bombay Community Public Trust which
is today an independent and professionally managed trust
that mobilizes local resources for local needs.
The
Centre has membership strength of more than 400, comprising
a fairly representative cross- section of corporate bodies,
grant-making foundations, NGOs and professionals involved in
the field of philanthropy.
Membership
Categories
1)
Patron:
Any individual or institution may become a member by paying
a one-time membership fee of Rs. 50,000/-
2)
Institutional:
Any institution, including company, association, trust,
society, etc., may enroll under this category by paying a
one-time fee of Rs. 7,500/-
3)
Associate:
Any individual or institution may enroll under this category
by paying a one-time entrance fee of Rs. 750/-, together
with an annual fee of Rs. 750/-. (In other words, at the
time of joining, one pays Rs. 1,500/- and thereafter
Rs.750/- annually)
4)
Subscription
for receiving Newsletter:
Rs. 300/- per annum.
