Education Trust (YET), Thane
Education Trust was established in 1978 with the motive to
fight illiteracy and to advance the secular education to
bring national, social and self-awareness among the poor,
needy and resourceless students of economically weaker
section of society of vast slum area in the locality. The
growing awareness and need of having an English medium
school in locality inspired the establishment of
. Starting with Kindergarten in the flat of founder member
and present Chairman Mr. P M Yadav, the school has
progressively added classes till SSC. In year 1998 the trust
has also started Marathi Medium classes till 7th
in absence of any aid from government, the schools is
managed on ‘No Profit No Loss’ basis by charging nominal
fees to students compared to other education institutions.
Presently there are approximately 600 students enrolled with
this coed school and 16 dedicated teachers are employed to
impart education to them. The classes are conducted in
twelve asbestos/tin-roofed rooms. The school boasts of a
science laboratory, which has all necessary facilities for
conducting SSC level practicals. With the help of Rotaract
club the school has also established a computer lab. The
small open space is available as a playground.
future plans of the School include renovation of aging
school infrastructure and starting the
and Arts from June 2006. It received the permission from
government for the junior college in year 2004, however lack
of infrastructure and funding has been the constraint for
the delay of the project.
