Robbing Peter to pay Peter
Author(s)
Binu S Thomas
Summary
Staggering debt repayment obligations have decimated the capacity of
developing countries to invest in their own development. Debt as it is created and
nurtured today is the foremost weapon in the armoury of neocolonialism says the
author, Co-ordinator, Policy and Advocacy Unit, ActionAid India. He argues that
an international satyagraha to force debt write-offs may be the only way to
salvage the economies of the developing countries
