The BMC Garden Department maintains:
- 450 Gardens / Recreation Grounds (including
gardens attached to municipal premises),
- 250 Playgrounds, and
- 221 Traffic Island Gardens.
In addition to these, a number of gardens, recreation
ground and playgrounds are taken over by BMC in lieu of TDR. Hence,
this number is increasing rapidly.
There are more than 100 undeveloped plots reserved as garden,
recreation ground, playground available with the BMC Garden Department
for development and improvement. In addition to this, more than
361 existing gardens, R. G. & P. G. needs complete upliftment
as they are not upto the satisfaction of the citizens.
141 gardens and R.G., 73 playgrounds and 216 traffic island gardens
have been adopted by various organisations.
