Trust focuses on working on the upliftment of students studying
in BMC schools. We have a 10 Point programme for the secondary schools which covers 55000 students. Incidentally we have been asked to co-ordinate the relief operations for collecting school kits for the students of these schools. Over 2.5 lac students have been effected in different wards- The data has been compiled and LIFE is giving the kits to 1000 students in the "L" ward, specifically in the M.P. Marg Municipal school and the Barve Marg Municipal school on the 22nd of Aug (due to alot of school holidays next week) at 11 am. We will also be having street plays in this ward" School Chalo" for the children in the slums- From next week our counselors will be having workshops for children in these schools to help them overcome their fears. Mumbaites We have all be deeply moved by the tragedy which has befallen our beloved city , Mumbai. There has been unprecented damage and the city has risen to the call of the hour, which is immediate relief to the affected areas. The citizens have been in the forefront , as always. AS LIFE Trust is working very closely with the BMC Education Dept, we have been requested to coordinate efforts for students who have been affected by the floods. The immediate need is for the children to get uniforms and their books and school bags. The attendance has dropped by over 50%- this is because of the fear factor and also lack of amentites. Our concern is that the childern must be motivated to return to school, else we will have a huge crisis of empty schools and a massive drop out rate. We are enclosing a letter from the BMC which is attached herewith. We are also attaching the exact requirement in numbers . We have identified all the products and have been able to negotiate the best rates for the kit- A full kit of uniform, school bag, pencilbox/stationary, notebooks/artbook, chappal, lunchbox/waterbottle is costing us Rs300/. LIFE Trust is donating 1000 such kits and we will be handing over the first lot on Mon. in the "L" Ward. We call upon all NGO's/ Citizen groups/Corporates/indivivuals to partner us in this very noble cause.
