Sub: Development of collection, segregation, and recycling of wet & dry
waste. Progress report - after 28th October meeting when MCGM-NGO
Cleanliness Committee formed.

we have started a model project of waste management of wet waste at house to
house level in the area of J.V.P.D, Vile Parle.
Collections are being done for 700 flats in the area.Segregation done at
Geetanjali. Also collection of Debris is being done in small quantities,
bigger quantity can be collected for a price.

Composting being done in Bio Bins using BTM culture in a beautiful manner.
Compost processed is being used at Cooper Hospital gardens BMC Nursery. The
compost is being given free of cost at the moment. The same compost will be
tested at the laboratory after consultation with Mrs. Ghotke, Head of
Horticulture department, 'K' west.

Our next target will be for 2000 houses.Promoting Bio Bin System at every
society level.We are in the process of starting bio bins at Nehru Nagar
slums, Jogeshwari and also treatment of Public toilets.

Mr. Ashok Bhau Jadav, M.L.A of this area is actively involved in the above
project.

Discussions are complete with the church authorities in Jogeshwari slum area
in which more than 50 local activists participated and are now ready to
start a model project both for Bio Bins and public toilet treatment from
January 2006
