BG India
BG India or British Gas is a
business of BG group plc. The group has activities spread
across four continents and in some 20 countries worldwide.
The focus of the company is on four business segments
worldwide- Exploration & Production, Liquefied Natural
Gas, Transmission & Distribution and Power.
The company has been active in
India for over ten years and its business interests are
based primarily on the west coast of the country. BG India
is a majority stakeholder in Gujarat Gas Company Limited,
which supplies natural gas to about 140,000 customers in
Ankleshwar, Bharuch and Surat in Gujarat. It is also a 100
percent shareholder in the proposed Pipavav Liquefied
Natural Gas ( LNG ) importation and re-gasification
project in the state of Gujarat. The company is also a 50
: 50 joint venture partner with Gas Authority of India
Limited in Mahanagar Gas Limited, which is developing a
natural gas distribution system in Mumbai.
The Group has an integrated
Health, Safety & Environment ( HS&E) management
system for its international upstream and downstream
businesses and conducts its business with due regard for
environment, health and safety of employees, those
involved in its operations and the public at large. BG
India recognises its social responsibility and supports
the local communities in which it operates. It is also
actively involved in a number of educational and
charitable development projects in India.
